What to Expect During Your Notary Appointment

What to Expect During Your Notary Appointment

If it’s your first time working with a notary public — especially a mobile notary — you might not know what to expect. Don’t worry! At Delta Express Mobile Notary, our goal is to make the process smooth, efficient, and stress-free.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you prepare for your notary appointment, so everything goes quickly and according to plan.

Step 1: Schedule Your Appointment

Use our online booking link or call us at (901) 589-0037 to request a time and location that works best for you. We offer mobile and after-hours appointments, so we’ll come to you — whether you’re at home, at work, in a hospital, or even a correctional facility.

Once confirmed, we’ll follow up with any important instructions based on your specific document type.

Step 2: Gather the Documents You Need Notarized

Before your appointment, be sure to have all pages of your document ready — even if only one page needs notarization. The document should be fully completed, but not signed until the notary instructs you to do so.

Pro tip:
If you’re unsure whether to fill something out in advance, wait and ask your notary at the appointment.

Step 3: Bring Valid Identification

You must present a current, government-issued photo ID to verify your identity. This could include:

  • Driver’s license

  • Passport

  • State ID

  • Military ID

Your ID must match the name on the document being notarized and be legible and unexpired.

Step 4: Review and Sign with the Notary Present

At the appointment, we’ll:

  • Verify your identity

  • Confirm you understand what you’re signing

  • Ensure you’re signing willingly (no pressure or coercion)

  • Witness your signature

  • Apply our notary seal and complete the notarial certificate

The entire process typically takes 10–20 minutes, depending on how many documents you need notarized.

Bonus Tips

  • If you need a witness, please let us know ahead of time — some documents require one in addition to the notary.

  • If the document is in a foreign language, it must include an English notarial section (we do not provide translations).

  • For multiple signers, all parties must be present with their IDs at the same time.
